I just returned from Koblenz, the first stop of the Austin Girls' Choir's trip to Europe, where André and I met Craig for lunch.
It was great to be able to meet him face to face after knowing him from the web! He's really a nice guy!
The weather was wonderful (almost too hot), and we did some sightseeing in the afternoon. Craig brought his digital video camera along, so expect pictures when he's back home!
In the evening, Craig and I went to the choir's concert, which was fantastic. I enjoyed it very much.

And I just returned from an Iowa Conservation and Preservation Consortium meeting in Cedar Rapids where I lead a little workshop on time capsules. So I was about to provide some links to time capsule sites....but the first three I tried from my bookmarks are no longer found! Which indicates something.
I think it indicates that time capsules are probably just a residule preservation ritual in our time of transience culture. Especially as they mimic the cultures who once had real preservation technologies. Note the crypt of civilization; a streaming still image from inside the pyramid.
For corrective counterculture see the long now.
